Definition of Terms
- Paying Parent - The parent paying child support. This is usually the parent who is physically responsible for the child(ren) for less than 50% of the time. In a case where each parent has equal time, this is usually the parent with the higher income.
- Receiving Parent - The parent receiving child support. This is usually the parent who is physically responsible for the child(ren) for greater than 50% of the time. In a case where each parent has equal time, this is usually the parent with the lower income.
- Gross Income - Total income before deductions for taxes, benefits, union dues, retirement plan contributions, etc.
- FICA - Social Security and Medicare taxes, or in the case of the self-employed, the Self Employment tax.
- Child Care Payments - Payments made for daycare so that a parent can work or attend school. Only include child care amounts paid for the child(ren) of this relationship.
- Health Insurance Payments - Payments made for health insurance for the child(ren) who is the subject of this child support order.
